System i (iSeries, AS / 400) Message Queuing Options

I am trying to find options for MQ on iSeries other than WebSphere MQ. Anyone have any experience? Is it possible? Can I run a pure Java MQ server like OpenMQ?

I see no reason why not, although I have not personally tried it. However, I would highly recommend using a software package that supports AMQP . I believe this is planned for OpenMQ but not implemented yet. Apache Qpid you should probably take a look. It's almost as good as RabbitMQ but written in Java and JMS compliant.
