CSS Styling Forms - IE Error 6/7

I am developing a website using forms and unfortunately for IE 6 and 7. I have a problem with CSS and IE rendering styled form elements.

I wrote a test case and it is as such (also available online at http://xistence.osnn.net/testcases/ie67fieldset/ ):

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">

    <fieldset>
        <input type="submit" value="Submit" />
    </fieldset>
</form>
</body>
</html>

I also took two screenshots, one from IE 7 and one from IE 8, IE 7 and IE 6 agree with this style, so I didn't bother to take a screenshot of IE 6.

IE [6 | 7]: enter image description here

IE 8:

Has anyone seen this error before? Where am I wrong? What do I need to remove to get it to work in IE 6/7 without any extra lines going through my input fields. Extra lines are removed when the top border spins in the marginset, but this is not a solution as it removes all visual separation.

This has been fixed. margin-bottom on textarea and input [type = "text"] was causing IE 6/7 error. Removed those and all is well. I guess I can handle the extra space between elements on the page!

I see that you are using

input[type="submit"]

I doubt this is supported by IE6 ... you might want to put classes in all fields to make the difference between different input types.

EDIT :

margin-bottom: -0.3em;

You are currently using negative margin which often leads to problems in IE and therefore should be removed
