Reconfiguring SQL Server Hourly Subscription Reporting Services

Users want to customize SSRS reports to be sent to them by email. After a little search engine I found this link which shows the Report Manager subscription interface. That's pretty much every feature they need, except that the hourly subscription to reports doesn't give them enough control. By default, they can customize hourly reports and provide the desired start time, but at first glance, I don't see how they determine the end time. I need a way to say "Send me a report every hour from 5 to 10".

So I'm looking for one of two answers:

  • Is there actually an end time that I just missed?
  • If not, how can I override the subscription hour page and end and end times.

thanks

You can write your own subscription service using SQL Reporting Services Web Services.

You can schedule a subscription to run a job hourly and then write your own service that pauses jobs when they don't want to receive reports.

Alternatively, you can also try changing the SQL Server job parameters. When Reporting Services creates a "subscription", a SQL Server job is created. This interface has start and end time parameters. I have not confirmed that this provides the functionality you are looking for.

Also, if that doesn't work and you don't want to code your own subscription service as mentioned, you can try to create 5 different jobs that run one hour apart every day. I know this is kind of a kludge, but maybe the extra work maintenance is preferable to the extra time to code your own service.
