User profile import - more than search based

In AD we have these two OUs:

  • OU = Accounts - Standard User
  • OU = Accounts - Limited User

The connection search base for our custom profile import contains the following:

  • OU = Accounts - Standard User, DC = in, DC = Company, DC = com

The import works great for this separate unit.

I tried to make a second connection, but SharePoint won't allow multiple connections to the same domain.

How do I set up an import / join for output from both units?

You can move the search base to a level above both OUs, and then change your filter to only pull in AD user objects with certain fields set. For example, this filter will get all custom objects with fields for first and last name:



(&(objectCategory=Person)(objectClass=user)(givenName=*)(sn=*))
