How to use MS CRM Web Services from C #?

I need to add, update and make a query (search) on entities in MS CRM (Dynamics) web service using C #.

Now there are two Account and Contact objects in MS CRM, both of which can be used to store customer information; which object should be used for the operation above?

I was told that I should use the CRMService for MS CRM web service that will provide generic methods to create, retrieve, get multiple, update, delete and retrieve for each object. Is there any web service called crmservice?

Question:

I have developed / deployed several web services, but I have never done anything compared to MS CRM. I'm not sure how to start developing?

Just by thinking, should I create a project, add a web service reference to my VS2005 IDE and call the web methods? It's all? Do I need MS CRM SDK? And if so, which DLLs will I use? Again, how do you start using it?

Any help / links / pointers / diagrams / articles / etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

First, start here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa613627.aspx

Add a link to this asmx as usual in your VS project:

Http: ///mscrmservices/2006/crmservice.asmx

(use any suitable url)

And use this technical article to learn how to use the methods. This should basically be all you need. If you have any other related questions, just edit and reference them in this question.

Yes, following Bobby's directions, you don't need an SDK to use the web service. It contains documentation, some dlls to use when coding plugins, and some sample projects (you might look at).

For working with a webservice, you might be interested in LinqtoCRM (the project I started): http://codeplex.com/linqtocrm

In terms of accounts and contacts, typically you model your client companies as "accounts" and then create "contacts" attached to those accounts, representing the actual people you talk to in those companies.
