May I know how I can get the rights of a user from his name and group name.

Permits for what?



Anything that implements ISecurableObject (SPWeb, SPList, SPItem ..) will expose "RoleAssignments". If you are just looking for specific permissions for users, you can use DoUserHavePermissions to check for a specific mask
