Copy protection (mac apps): the most cost effective solution?

... after just reading http://www.cocoadev.com/index.pl?CocoaInsecurity ...

I am curious about your experiences with copy protection solutions to protect Macintosh applications.
Is it worth investing at all? OR Is it worth investing in a commercial solution? (& if so what?)

consider in your answers:

1) How convenient (or INCONVENIENT) is the solution for the (legitimate) end user?

2) Did the decision help the real-time performance of the software (CPU hit?)

3) Is the solution related to copy protection incidents?

Thank you-> Adv,

EACH approach is inconvenient for the legitimate end user, and MOST will be hacked at some point (if anyone is interested in the application).

Given the growing popularity of the Mac App Store and users who have quickly become accustomed to it, our experience is that they also understand less when it comes to the hassle of what each copy protection scheme includes.

Matt's blog post has a good list of pros and cons on MAS selling and comes up with your own copy protection scheme.
