Firefox back button only works the first time, not the second time

I have a site where you can search for things with dates and more. When I submit the form, I am taken to the results page, when I click the Back button I go back to my search page and populate the values. This works in IE and FF.

however, whatever I do, when I go back over and over a second time , the values are lost in Firefox, whereas IE and other browsers still remember the filled values. whatever I do on the search page it doesn't remember the new state, only the original first state. Even when I check the values of the form before submitting, it shows the correct values, but on return, it is lost.

Okay,

I made a clean test file without any additional stuff I have and came to the simple conclusion that it caused confusion and my problem.

when you do

<a href="#" onclick="DoSomethingFirstBeforeSubmittingTheForm()">Go!</a>

Firefox falls back to the .html page variant, while IE falls back to the .html # page variant.

when you do

<a href="javascript:DoSomethingFirstBeforeSubmittingTheForm()">Go!</a>

both FF and IE return to the html page and use the correct cache.
