How to enable auto capitalization, punctuation, text functions in the text of a Blackberry app? Fields?

I am using RIM JDE 4.2.1

I would like my textboxes to automatically iron out the first letter of sentences, add punctuation marks at the end, and link to the AutoText DB on the device. It looks like it will / should be the type of the field in the API, but either I'm missing it or just not there.
