JQuery filter is case sensitive - how can I disable it?

I am using jQuery jQuery.extend filter: to filter elements. When I use '*' for filtering it is a problem because the filter is case sensitive.

'* People and people * are two different strings.

"People" and "People" filter the same items, but only when run on those lines.

How can I turn off the case sensitive to the string that starts with '*'?

You must standardize the wrapper in your application; I prefer to use camelCase. IE treats "People" and "People" as identical. So if you use them like id

you might not even get the item you want. Also, when these strings are used for class names, the second will overwrite the first in IE. Other browsers follow the standard and it matters. For this reason, this should also make a difference in jQuery.

This answer makes a lot of assumptions with your question. If you edit it, then I can help you.
