Why is my badge not extending to the device?

While working on my iPhone app, the icon changed from time to time. Colleagues or management came up with fantastic new ideas and .pngS and all I did was change the Icon.png on the file system. Most of the time the new icon was propagated to the simulator or device with the very next build, sometimes I had to remove and add icon.png in Xcode (images) but it worked. Then the other day I added a UIPrerenderedIcon element to info.plist to eliminate the shine icon (it worked) and since I did, I'm having trouble casting the new icons to the device:

  • Simulator shows new icon in debug mode
  • The simulator does not display the new icon in release mode (only when debugging has been used previously)
  • Never new icons on any iPhone or iPod
  • Whenever an icon is blurred, a white square or (even unfamiliar to me) old icon is displayed (the corresponding .png is completely excluded from the file system).

Any ideas?

Try to clear all targets, this is most likely a case of the old icon appearing.

Also, this happened to me several times (with app images) ...

The simulator is insensitive to file names but is case sensitive.

So if in info.plist you say your icon file is: ICON.png

But the actual file is named: icon.png

The simulator will then display an icon, however the device will not.

When you change the icon image Try uninstalling the old app from the simulator / iPhone and then reinstalling it. Sometimes this problem occurs to me too ... and FOR Icon on iTunes Make a 512 x 512 JPEG icon image or PNG file named iTunesArtwork. Then go to information and remove the extension. Please note that the file must not have a.

After creating your app icon file, follow these steps to add it to your app:

  • Open your project in Xcode.
  • In the Groups and Files list, select the Resources group.
  • Choose Project> Add To Project, navigate to the iTunesArtwork file and click Add.
  • In the dialog box that appears, select the Copy Items option and click Add.

Note that a PNG or JPEG file is just "iTunesArtwork" without a suffix.

If you try to copy the file to the app bundle after creating it, it will break the app subscription and you will get an error when trying to sync with your device. Make sure the artwork file is included in the Resource Copy Resources folder as part of the project target in Xcode (step 4 above).

Then drag the app file to iTunes to cross-check if you did everything right or not.

Hope it helps.

Run app in xcode 1 Change icon.png name to icon1.png 2 Remove app from simulator or device 3 Clear all targets 4 Change icon1.png back to icon.png 5 Run app again
