How to view and print PDF files in Python?

Is there a GPL or less restrictive (LGPL preferred) library for viewing and printing PDF files?

I am using PyQt, maybe there is an option to render PDFs using it?

You can try python-poppler . Poppler is a well known PDF renderer (used by Okular , among other programs) based on xpdf . However, this binding is fairly new and doesn't seem to have a real home page.

You might want to check out this Qt Quarterly post - Poppler: Displaying PDFs with Qt , which explains how to do this in Qt. It's in C ++, but I can see that poppler has Python bindings, so there shouldn't be any problem wiring the example code in the post to Python.
