Problem Loading AS2 swf into AS3 swf
I tried very hard to get AS2 swf to boot correctly inside swf AS3 but to no avail ...
The AS2 file (which is a fairly large application referencing many external XML files, etc.) works fine when run in Flash Player.
When trying to download the same file using ASF swf (using the URLRequest and Loader classes), the file starts downloading but stops abruptly during the preload phase. (The same happens if I try to load it with AS2 "loadMovie".)
Update. It seems that the swf is actually being loaded via AS2 loadMovie, but not into the AS3 Loader class.
What else should you try? Security settings, custom loader classes - any advice is appreciated.

Also keep in mind that swf AS2 loaded into swf AS3 will have trouble communicating the parent swf to it, so the bootloader will have trouble keeping track of the SWF being loaded - so that might get you in trouble. You have to create a swf that boots into AS2 and then connect it to AS3 swf using LocalConnection.

In general, the loaded movie should be designed to be loaded from another swf. For example, any initialization code must be in place after the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE event, and all references to the root do not work as you expect. For example, the root for an element is a stage where swf works alone, but when swf is loaded from another swf, the root element is the parent of swf, which can be different in size and position, causing some problems.
