Is it possible to rename only for the server in the TFS source?
Lately, my team and I have tried very hard to turn our legacy source code into something we can live with. Part of this process is to make the source controlled image a little more similar to what most people might expect to find when browsing a repository.
The original structure has a Branches branch, the contents of which are located in the Tags folder on systems such as Subversion. Since Branches are too nonspecific for my tastes, I wanted to change it to Tags - but it would seem like I can't do that unless I create a workspace mapped to the repository root and then create a working copy from it. In this project, this is a huge file transfer (many old tags).
Please tell me that I just missed the obvious and should spend more time reading the instructions. Isn't there an easy way to do this without taking out everything for the client? I really like most aspects of TFS, but this is something that would take 15 seconds or less in Subversion, so I hope I'm just missing something.
Thanks in advance to all respondents.

You don't need to get the entire folder, but you do need to get the folder yourself. You cannot do this from the IDE, but you can from the command line:
tf get c:\dev\
Since we didn't specify the / recursive option, it will only get the immediate children of c: \ dev \, which will be folders such as trunk and branches.
To do this, you can rename the folder:
tf rename c:\dev\branches c:\dev\tags
And then register the rename.
