How do I edit how SQL Agent works from SSMS 2005?

I am trying to modify or view a SQL Agent job (I am the owner of this job) from SSMS 2005 and I cannot seem to figure out how. When I double click on a job or enter job properties, I get a blank New Job window.

Is there a way to fix this behavior?

I ran into this problem a while ago. I'm not entirely sure what caused this, but the fix was installing the sql server sp2 on my local machine (or whatever machine you were using ssms). the only documentation I found at the time suggested that this is the only solution.

You can generate SQL Script for SQL Job and then edit it. right click on the job and then click on generate SQL Script. Here you can also change job properties with sql sciript

I suggest that you create a new assignment explicitly, and then try editing the new assignment the same way and see what happens.

In particular, it is possible that your old job is really empty.

don't know what is your problem with SSMS. Maybe you don't have permission? Is your sa you need to be a member of the SQLAgentOperatorRole in the MSDB?

If you can still run queries, have a look at the sysjobs and sysjobsteps tables in the MSDB database, this has all the properties You can use sp_update_job to modify the job
