Flash movie not showing in IE

I have a flash movie that works fine in FF, Opera, Safari, but not IE. When I right click on the empty drawer that sits there now, I don't even get the usual flash menu that it shows.

Can anyone see the link text

Try the following:

1.

AT

<PARAM NAME="wmode" VALUE="transparent>

add missing quotes at the end of the transparent:

<PARAM NAME="wmode" VALUE="transparent">

2.

AT

<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
WIDTH="350" HEIGHT="309" id="flashslide" ALIGN="">

set width and height to 2000:

<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
WIDTH="2000" HEIGHT="2000" id="flashslide" ALIGN="">

Further explanation:

In your code, you are using two different methods for embedding the flash movie:

  • through <object ...>...</object>

  • through <embed ...>...</embed>

This is due to the fact that when you change an important parameter, you change it only in one version, but forget the other.

With both options, the browser must choose which data it wants to use: those from the "object" or those specified in "embed".

Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc. seem to prefer the embed option, while IE prefers the object option.

I would suggest removing the "embed" option and using only the "object". This is the correct option according to the HTML 4 standard. The embedding option is only supported by browsers for compatibility reasons.
