Google Chat on GAE?

Is it possible or any plugins to use the chat feature for the community page in GAE. Something like a gmail chat? maybe some kind of jQuery chat?

Have a look at Using the Goo App Engine Engine .
Chapters 8 \ 9 describe how to develop basic jQuery chat with GAE, here you can download chapter sources and here live coding session.

You should take a look at google-app-engine-samples . There is an app called geochat which might be a good reference app for what you are trying to do.
