How do I save / export an OpenGL surface in Quicktime in Cocoa / Objective C?

I modified the quartz composer slideshow slideshow from xcode to display a high speed slideshow using a custom transition.

The example uses OpenGL (Cocoa) to display a slideshow. I would like to export this slideshow to video.

Is there a way to use Cocoa / OpenGL to output this scene to a Quicktime movie?

OR, should I just override the SlideShow sample in Quartz composer and use it to export in Quicktime functions?

I don't believe Cocoa directly supports rendering QuickTime videos, and I know that OpenGL itself does not.

From what I've found, Apple recommends using Quartz Composer for rendering. Here's a link with a breakdown.

check out the sample code at / Developer / Examples / Quartz Composer / Applications / QCTV for code that does exactly what you want.

I believe in previous osx versions the sample code was called Quartz Composer TV
