Overlapping 2 Flash objects and manipulating the z-index
I have two Flash objects in a web page (call them A and B), and they overlap so that one partially obscures the other. I don't seem to have any control over the z-index to force B in front of A. No matter what I try, it always "wins" and stays on top!
I've read many posts about problems getting HTML to render on top of Flash ... but nothing about when your two overlapping elements are Flash objects.
- I have tried various combinations
wmode=opaque/transparent/window
- I have tried CSS
position:absolute/relative
andz-index:0/999
- I tried to arrange the HTML sections in a different order
- The problem is the same in IE and Firefox.
- I don't want to use jQuery in this case
In my particular situation, B should have position:absolute
and wmode=transparent
and sit above A. Requires relative positioning and transparency. However, I have tested without these restrictions and I still have no control over the overlap. Are some SWFs (ours are advertisements posted by clients) designed to override any z-index control code?
The reason for this arrangement is that A is a standard banner ad at the top of the page, and B is a page freeze effect where the corner flakes down at the top right of the page.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
