How can I move the cursor in insert mode in viemu (no arrow buttons)?

Sometimes I just need to move either left or right a couple of characters (or go to the end of the line), but don't really want to leave insert mode to move a couple of characters.

I don't know about viemu and visual studio, but in vim you can use <Ctrl-o>

to type one command in insert mode, so will <ctrl-o>2l

move you 2 characters to the left and <ctrl-o>$

move you to the end of the line.

There is no way to move the cursor that is easier than just using the arrow keys, which is what they are for. Insert mode is for pasting text, not moving around the file. If you want to be so pedantic about not using the arrow, then there is a solution for you:

  • click
  • use the "HJKL" keys to your destination
  • press 'i'
