VB.NET/VSTO2008 doesn't work; can't find runtime
I am trying to deploy a VB.NET application that is an Excel extension using VSTO. It works fine in a development environment, but when someone else (no developer environment installed, only the .NET framework) installs it, they get:
Unable to load common run language
<application>
. Contact your administrator for more help.
Google will display a microsoft help page for this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/6s0wczt9.aspx
But I have confirmed that the .NET versions are the same on both machines. For VSTO apps in 2k5, the installation needed to install a specific vsto library for the runtime - is there something similar for VS2008 that I haven't found yet? Any ideas beyond this?
Thanks in advance!

VSTO applications built with Visual Studio 2008 require VSTO version 3.0 runtime.

We had the same problem. All this has to do with security policy.
When running VSTO projects, there are issues with your DLL's security policy.
Namely, you need to give "full trust" to your assemblies. This means that you must A) sign your projects with a key, and B) register your assemblies as having full trust during deployment (which is easy to do with CASPOL.exe: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us /library/cb6t8dtz.aspx )
It's very easy to do. Alternatively, you can roll your own security settings assembly that you integrate into your msi (this is what we did)
