Yahoo Pipes - Return items in a feed by range?

There is an RSS feed with over 1000 items. I want to create a Yahoo Pipes RSS feed that returns a subset of feed items specified by the index of the first and last item. For example, I could send first = 500 and last = 600, and Pipe will only return the RSS feed from 500 to 600 in the original feed. Is this possible with Yahoo Pipes, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction?

As you quickly realized, the best way to work with Yahoo pipes is to think in the same way as you would when building a Unix pipeline. Here the obvious Unix pipeline was to take the tail of the head, and the Yahoo pipe approach is exactly the same (except that calling "head" by the name of "truncate" puts you in a bit of an obstacle ;-).

It turned out ... use a truncate filter followed by a tail filter with inputs a and b respectively. This results in [ab: a] points.
