Feedback SAS BI Dashboard - What's Your Experience?
Backgroup: We are looking at the SAS BI dashboard. We currently implement almost all other SAS applications (with the exception of the Enterprise Miner). Other technologies on the web include Business Objects, some personalized reporting materials, and Project R.
Question: What kind of feedback do you have:
- SAS BI Dashboard implementation
- creating dashboards and reports in BI
- linking BI to other technologies, databases and SAS datasets

I haven't used it much, but a friend and even wrote an article for the latest SAS Global Forum that might contain some useful information for you on this topic.

Due to licensing costs and implementation complexity (you have to use a specific, not the most recent version of WebLogic, etc.), we DROP THE BI Dashboard COMPLETELY and replaced it with LifeRay (an open source portal).
SOS analysts, graphics, etc. float through weblog calls to the SAS Stored Process server.

I have not used the new SAS "BI Dashboard" offering, but I have made many dashboards using SAS / Graph, such as the following (here and along with the SAS code used to create them):

So using dashboards you can create standalone web output (like above), either interactively or from a batch job, or you can generate them on the fly when you click on a web page via SAS / Intrnet or BI stored process. The output can be viewed in a simple web browser and / or you can display the URL output in Portal (be it SAS Portal, SAS Web Report Studio, or others).
