What is the difference between "Search Office SharePoint Server" and "Search Windows SharePoint Services"

I have a MOSS 2007 environment with multiple WFE servers. can anyone know what is the difference between "Search Office SharePoint Server" and "Search Windows SharePoint Services".

What service do I need to launch? If I need to run Office SharePoint Server Search, what is the point of Windows SharePoint Services Search in Central Administration?

Better late than never, Why does Sharepoint have two services? Searching Office SharePoint Server and Windows SharePoint Services Help? sheds light on this.

Personally, I don't understand what is meant by the help system and if our users are using it.



In any case, Windows SharePoint Services search was the culprit for a serious performance issue, and we moved it to early in the morning, not every hour. We are thinking about turning it off completely. Our admin always advised that search only works at night, but this was an Office SharePoint Server search.
