Quicktime Directshow Filters

Question

I am learning DirectShow Source Filters to play QuickTime files. Can anyone who has been along the same path offer any advice?

I've tested suggestions from MediaLooks and RogueStream. Are there others I should check? Are there any free open source alternatives?

We've had good experience using the RogueStream filter for transcoding, so I'd go with that.
