Classic asp-cdonts

I am trying to send email using classic asp and cdonts on a Windows Server 2003 computer.

But I am assuming the SMTP service needs to be started. Unfortunately it was asking for an SP1 drive ... which apparently went missing. I assume not, but is there any other way to do this?

Use CDO instead of CDONTS so you can specify an external SMTP server. See for example the article or here (look for a choice of remote server). CDONTS was canceled on win2K and later.
