Is the -Xdebug option supported in JDK 1.5?

I couldn't find any suitable documentation for it. Anyway, is this the best way to generate trace reports when the JVM process starts (preferably SUN in its JDK package) so that any JVM crashes can be logged?

According to "java - application to run Java" in the JDK1.5 documentation, XDebug is a non-standard version:

Start with JVMDI support . JVMDI is deprecated and not used for debugging in J2SE 5.0, so this parameter is not required for debugging in J2SE 5.0.



JVMDI has been deprecated since J2SE 5.0. JVMTI .

For runtime traces, some hints are in the question "Can I get the JVM crash log file to generate?" but mostly for JDK1.6.
For 1.5, those troubleshooting tools may prove helpful .
