SSAS / SSRS removes parameter from cube report report

Team, We built a data cube using SSAS and are now collecting SSRS reports from this cube. Not sure if anyone has come across this, but when you create the report using the wizard and include the parameters, everything looks fine. However, if you are in the report after the master competes and you decide you want to delete one of the parameters you created, it debunks the report and the only way to get it back is to recreate the entire report.

Is there anyway you can remove or add parameters after the initial build without destroying your report?

I had the same problem and this is how I solved it:



  • Go to the data report tab.
  • Expand the Options button. Here you will get a list of parameters.
  • Remove unwanted.

If you look at the hidden datasets generated for each parameter, each has a query that depends on some other parameters, in a cascading fashion. If you do not remove the last parameter, the other parameters will not work.

You can fix this by manually editing the parameter dataset queries to update them so that they don't use the parameter you want to remove.



The main query also uses parameters in the nested FROM module (... (... (...). You need to update this so that it does not limit itself to that parameter. Then there are parameters on the top of the query builder that allows you to remove the reference to this parameter in the request.

I think that if you remove the parameters from the wizard, it should update all other parameters and the query should work correctly. This is probably the easiest route. All of your report objects must remain functional.
