Is it possible to get cell text from remote StatusBarWndClass applications?

I have a legacy vb application that has data in the status bar that I want to use to control a .NET application.

I have used spy ++ to get an idea of ​​the window structure and have successfully used FindWindow and FindWindowEx to get the handle to the StatusBarWndClass. Now I am trying to access the actual data in the status bar. I tried using the WM_GETTEXT message, but with no success.

  • Is it possible to get information about a cell from the remote StatusBarWndClass?
  • How should I do this if possible?
