How do I insert a client-side image into the editor?
as the "insert" menu, with which you can insert an image into the editor,
using javascript i have no idea what solution at all,
should be in 2 steps:
1. user selects an image (this should be done with "input type = file") 2. Paste the selected image into the editing context (not sure how to implement it)

You cannot achieve this without uploading the image to your server, as the only link you can have inside the text area is the public website (i.e. not the user's hard drive).
I would recommend checking IMCE ; what i am using.
It allows the user to upload images. Together with a beautiful WYGIWYS editor like TinyMCE , it works like a charm.
