Great alternative to RichTextBox for .NET.

I am writing a Windows .NET application that needs a WYSIWYG text editor control that can

  • display images with text
  • outputs text with its formatting in HTML, XML or something similar (except RTF)
  • preferably free, but commercially good

The mshtml control (Internet Explorer engine control) will work. You can display inline images, output text to HTML and for free.

You can enable edit mode by setting designMode = true. Here's a good article detailing how to do this.

Another option is to use one of the WPF controls. WPF RichTextBox is much more powerful than WinForms RichTextBox. WPF RTB can be output to several different formats and is highly extensible.
