Recovering a Database from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2005
I created a set of tables (about 20) in SQL Server 2008 and entered about 1000 records into the corresponding tables.
But the problem is I need the same tables with all data entered in SQL Server 2005 (SQLEXPRESS).
Obviously this won't work by taking a backup and restoring it to SQL Server 2005, as it won't be backward compatible.
Any suggestion would be appreciated ...

If you have Management Studio (including Express Edition), you can export data from it (and configure your SQL Server version). Try the following:
-
Right click on the database you want to export and select
Tasks > Generate Scripts
-
Follow the instructions in the wizard and check "Export all objects"
-
In the Script Options dialog, review all the options and change
'Script for Server Version'
to'SQL Server 2005'
and also change the option'Script Data'
to'True'
(this will export the database content as well as the schema).
Then you can save the export as a SQL script in a text file, which can then be run against the database you want to import it into.
