Mysql connectivity from pc pc application using .netcf 2.0

We are developing a system for taking orders for PDA using C # in .netcf 2.0. Thus, we have a mysql server as our back end. Is a web service the only way to connect mysql from a PDA? Or any other methods available ..?

There is a downloadable .netcf connector available on the MySql website. I recommend using version 5.2.7 and remember to put "pooling = false" in the connection string, otherwise the connection will fail with a "MissingManifestResourceException" error.

Example connection string: "Persist Security Info = False; database = DATABASE_NAME; server = SERVER_IP_ADDRESS; user ID = USERNAME_TO_LOGON; password = PASSWORD; union = false "

I don't believe there is a data provider for MySQL in the Compact Framework.

I recommend that you read the Mobile Application Architecture Guidelines , especially the Data Layer section, to see what options you have.
