ASP.NET MVC for Widget Based Portal Development

How good is ASP.NET MVC for developing something like this http://www.google.com/ig ?

I haven't seen or found examples yet. Is the MVC approach appropriate for the UI not to look like this?

Check out http://aspspider.info/lakkakula/local.aspx , this is a Web 2.0 Portal designed using Asp.Net MVC 1.0, Microsoft Ajax Client Templates and jQuery drag and drop and personalize your personal widget just like google.com/ig ...

MVC is fine for such a user interface. Your main controller can display a list of widgets that the user has defined, or use an ajax call to a method that returns a JsonResult ... this can cause the client-side wrapper to call for each partial vie for the respective controls. I would think MVC would simplify things quite a bit.

MVC + jQueryUI would be all you need ...

I suppose a little more clarification, what exactly do you mean by "suitable"?

For each available "widgit" there can be one method, which must be a controller, and then you can use jQuery (or whatever) to call the specified method and render. The page will then have a series of "lists" (which you can store in the DB) against the user, and you can simply reorder those lists to display the respective widgets in the correct order.

Obviously a VERY big simplification ...
