I can do http: // pc_name and smb: // pc_name ... to check my local site or use shared resources. nothing like that, what's so convenient?

when testing our machine for apache or svn, i found that we can actually use

http: // pc_name

when our computer is called "pc_name" and another computer on the same network can access this computer at that url on port 80.

and mac can connect to my computer shares using Finder -> Connect to Server -> smb: // pc_name

it's great. are there any similar things that are great but I just didn't find out?

http: // pc_name only works if there is an active DNS server on the network that has assigned a name to the computer named "pc_name" or if the "hosts" file has been modified.

There are probably many things that you haven't discovered. Your question is not specific enough for a good answer.

SSH ?

As Martin says: your question is not specific enough.
