Zend_Search_Lucene on Leopard: problem

Leopard 10.5.6 Macbook Zend 1.6, Apache 2, PHP 5.2.5

I cannot do indexing using Zend_Search_Lucene api. String or opening indexes generates the following exception message:

string (30) "Invalid format for segment.gen file"

However, the indexes / segment files were scp from a working version of my site and I chmoded them all to 777, so I don't think that's right.

Not sure which direction to try - looking for some ideas.

My PHP binary was 32-bit. PHP_INT_SIZE was 4. This convoluted Zend which checks the size of the system int, which on Leopard is 8 bits. Switching to XAMMP, a binary 64-bit PHP, solved the Lucene filesystem problems. It was not related to case sensitivity or paths. This is due to the use of the lcjarage pkg php / mysql / apache command. Updating to the latest version of Liyanage did not resolve this issue. Using XAMMP. Yay.

One option is that you are using different versions of Lucene on different machines. Zend documentation says Zend 1.6 supports Lucene 2.3 format. Perhaps the other machine is using an older / newer version of Lucene.

You may also run into case sensitivity issues with Leopard versus Linux / Unix if you deploy them.

OR it could be an absolute or relative path problem. If I recall correctly, Zend_Search_Lucene likes absolute paths. If your include paths are different, this may cause a problem.
