OpenCV Python and webcam

I am working with OpenCV on a BeagleBoard with Ubuntu and OpenCV 1.1 communicates via Python . I am trying to set up something to capture a feed from a UVC compatible webcam (Logitech C250). I tested the webcam with luvcview and it works, but only if I set the input format to YUV. If I run it in "normal" mode, I get back JPEG frames and something - not happy somewhere!

I am trying to connect to a webcam in OpenCV as I want to return an image from the webcam and do some analysis. Since I have a limited device, this seems to be the most efficient way to do it - however, I need to instruct the grabber system to capture in YUV, not JPEG. Is there a way to do this (e.g. luvcview allows me to type luvcview -f YUVY)?

I kind of put it off. If you compile OpenCV with the WITH_JPEG = OFF flag, the camera will not try to use MJPEG.
