What is meant by: "Asynchronous client-side framework"

I was looking at a job posting asking for the desired knowledge: "Client-side asynchronous frameworks". What do they mean by this in relation to Microsoft technologies, in particular the .NET framework?

I think this refers to AJAX technologies like ASP.NET Ajax and jQuery .

I could imagine anything (or at least one technology) that runs on the client side and I would suggest that on the web: Ajax (jQuery, Prototype, ASP.NET AJAX, etc.), Silverlight, Flash , Java FX, etc.
