Xp_sendmail: procedure expects @user parameter

I am getting xp_sendmail: The procedure expects an @user parameter when starting xp_sendmail.

How do I bind a given SQLService login profile (SQLMail_Whatever) in Outlook?

This is how I worked with SQLServer2005 (need to use sqlmail for backward compatibility):

  • Log into the system that is running the sql server with the login profile you are going to use for the distribution.
  • Set up an Outlook account for that specific account.
  • Install SQLServer and SQLServer Agent services to run using the same account
  • From SqlSever Management -> Legacy -> Configure and View SQLMail as Profile Name
  • From SQL Server Agent -> Properties -> Alert checks if the mail profile allows and selects the appearance of SQLMailand from the dropdown menus.

After restarting the service, xp_sendmail will work.
