Migrating an Existing Windows Forms Application to the Web

We have an application that we have been developing for a very long time using Windows Forms which consists of many panels as custom controls. Is there a way to suggest controls using a web browser with minimal effort?

You can use .Net Windows Forms controls on a webpage, but that's IE only and a real pain to work with. I've never seen it done in person and I've only heard bad things from those I know who have tried.

The best option is that ASP.Net has its own control. You can try to convert Windows Forms controls to ASP.Net custom controls. It's not easy either. There are some things that do your window form controls that just don't translate to the web very well.

Indeed, your best bet is, unfortunately, redesigning your interface. If you can move the business logic for your program into a dll, you can at least share it between both projects.

No no. (Except for using ActiveX and XBAP)

There are several automated solutions such as this one . Also, if the application was written in .NET, converting it will not be too difficult; you have to change the controls to your ASP.NET counterparts, change the config XML file to the appropriate web version, etc. Do a Google search for this phrase and you will get a lot of tutorials and tools: converting windows to web form pages

In the end, it must be written from scratch.

If your winforms application is well written from the start, you will have a lot of code that can be reused (data layer, business logic, etc.). However, part of the presentation is a complete correspondence when going to the Internet.
