I am trying to determine what will be the best selling point for the set of articles I am writing. Should I distribute RSS feeds or Facebook / Twitter / YouTube integration to the website? Or something different? I already cover image galleries, blogs, forums, polls, (and even shopping carts). I am sorry if this is too subjective. I just want to know what you most often ask for to build client sites.

EDIT: Let me put it this way. Let's say you are learning how to create websites in PHP. Do you want to get clients as quickly as possible so that you learn first: RSS feeds from other sites or data capture from third party sites like Facebook and Twitter, or YouTube video integration? What is most likely to bring you a client? Something other? (outside of blogs, forums, polls, image galleries and shopping carts)

I would vote RSS, Twitter, Widgets (such as Google Maps, as suggested) and YouTube. RSS and Twitter give you dynamic content, and if it's for a physical business or institution, Google Map integration is great if it allows people to find directions without having to leave their website, giving the business more time to chat with customers instead of visiting. their third party link to find routes.



The two biggest things that I think are missing from your list are database integration and security. With a lot of websites currently having databases in the UK or larger to serve content, having a decent understanding of how to use PHP to read / write information from a database would be nice if you got hurt earlier, not later. In addition, I would also consider the need for secure administrative controls and secure access to sensitive information (usernames, passwords, emails, etc.), especially if you are going to talk about using shopping carts.

Surely it depends on your web application and what it does?

Who is your target audience and how will you generate income and who are you selling it to?

All of these questions are critical to determining which features should develop.



Regarding your editing, I would say focus on the content and functionality specific to your site. What is the main reason for existence?

Building a learning website using PHP doesn't really mean it's worth it besides you. (If that doesn't explain how to code PHP?)

People love to see the Google maps widget on their site. You put neat stuff like a bubble dialog telling you what it is and how to get there. So my guess is that this will fall within adding widgets to the site.

I will vote for RSS feeds from other sites.Usually a site with very little new stuff looks much more dynamic by adding this.
