Java EE integration with .NET for authentication

I have a Java Enterprise Edition web application, standard WAR. I want to integrate this with an existing .NET framework using IIS. To be specific, I need to be able to share user sessions between two applications.

Is there a "standard" way to do this?

Edit: I don't need a full sharing session, sorry for not specifying this. What I need to do is check if the user is authenticated by the .NET application when connecting to the Java EE application.

Create a .NET web service (using WCF of course) to return if the user is authenticated. Then call this web service from your Java EE application.

It is highly doubtful.

You will have to transfer your session state to a third component such as a database. I doubt the built-in providers for any infrastructure are not similar at all (as far as schematics, etc.); so you need to create your own.

It doesn't sound like it would be great.

If they are going to run on the same server, you will need an isapi redirect filter like isapi_redirect.dll that comes with Tomcat.

This open source library, http://spnego.sourceforge.net , will allow your java application to perform transparent / integrated Windows authentication.

It's installed as a servlet filter, so you don't need to write any code.
