Windows 7 x64 and external web service issue in .NET.

I am having a weird problem. I have a simple C # console application that calls an external web service specified in my VS 2008.NET solution. The web service is defined as a help desk, according to vendor specifications. The service requires login credentials to be sent as part of the SOAP header.

On Vista x64 / XP it works without error. I can call a web service with credentials and return a valid response.

However, the exact same exe running under Windows 7 x64 (build 7100) returns an HTTP error: "The remote server returned an unexpected response: (411) Length Required."

I don't have much experience with web services, especially the service link, but this problem puzzled me.

It looks like I can fix the "problem" by setting the content length in the SOAP header, but I can't see that this has to do with the creation of the service proxy. Or perhaps there is a Windows 7 security setting that needs to be changed. I dont know.

Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

It looks like the http requests package generated on win7 is different from the one in the vista / xp file. Can you run netmon to check what is the difference between requests sent from vista / xp and win7? This should give the exact reason for this refusal.
