Iphone Development: How Bad

a relative newcomer to Cocoa development (I'm currently working on an iPhone app), I was wondering if the "illegal geometry" reported by Interface Builder is actually harmful or in any way hinders the functionality or performance of my application. I really try to avoid matching siblings as much as possible, but sometimes, for aesthetic reasons, it's just a necessity. However, I don't notice anything if I do illegal things. Will it affect me in unexpected situations? Is this technically illegal, or is it against Apple's Human Interface Guidelines? Thank you so much for your understanding.

Overlaps are not a problem. Feel free to ignore the warnings. Of course, make sure you do it in the spirit of good user interface design.

The real problems are for things like negative width / height or others completely out of bounds that can crash your application.

One note - apple is pretty serious about its interfaces. I know several people who have their app turned down from the app store for minor violations.
