Sort and refresh panel Gridview

I am trying to use the refresh panel along with a gridview, but I am having difficulty sorting the gridview. I tried to follow @dfowler on this thread

But when I try to sort, I get this error when I try to bind data to a sorted list: "Data source does not support server side paging."

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I found a bug. When I first bound to the gridview I was using List, but when I tried to double check I was using IQueryable, so a simple .ToList () worked :)

I experienced "Data source does not support paging data on the server side" when I used IEnumerable (Of SomeClass) as my data source and because I used "return return record"; To build this, there was no regular list (Of SomeClass) as the main object. Linq queries can cause the same behavior, try ToList () if so.
