ASP.NET MVC: Bit Deploying V1 and Beta on Same Server
I have a beta of ASP.NET MVC on our web server with multiple applications. My last app is coming to an end and is using version 1 of ASP.NET MVC.
My idea was that I could deploy V1 builds and leave the beta installed, so that was the default. This idea doesn't work as it ignores the bin folder and grabs the GAC (both versions 1.0.0.0). Instead, I copied the Beta MVC DLL into the bin directories of the applications that were built using the beta and the remote Beta MVC which removed the dll from the GAC.
Then I went to a page using the MVC beta that had the beta in its bin directory and got an error that it could not find the system.web.mvc dll in the GAC. Of course this is not possible, I deleted them and put them in the bin folder!
So, I'm a little confused.
Is there a way to make the web application look in the bin directory versus the GAC?

I really think you don't look right. Rather than trying to get both beta and v1 on the server, assuming you have the source of all applications running on the server, and that you're not just hosting, I believe you should try and invest in upgrading multiple Lines of code that may require intervention to achieve full compatibility for applications still relying on beta builds. Anyway, you should probably add the iis tag to the question ...
