Is there any other way to store data in a web application?
We use ViewState to store data that is edited by users. However, the ViewState is just too big, so we really want something faster.
We looked at session, but it needs to be collected manually as users navigate between pages.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Update: I am actually using Asp.net. They think we don’t want to use a session: 1. We don’t need to transfer our data between pages. 2. When a developer puts something into a session, he must remember to delete it if it is no longer useful. Otherwise the session will get bigger and bigger. This is a kind of triangle.

Are you saying you want the data to be stored on the server side and should be automatically retrieved?
You can trick the store view into your data store in session rather than hidden field using this method:

Despite the initial difficulty of getting this setup, I think it would be the best solution because then you don't have to change the code in everything, it can still use the ViewState as usual without realizing that this is now being stored on the server.
