How to find out which applications are using the most resources on a web server (Win2003)

I have tons of ASP.NET apps / web apps on my server (some custom and some open source). I was wondering if there is a free (or built-in Win2003) way to find out which applications are using the most resources during the day?

Sorting the breakdown of CPU (s) and memory ... Since I have a suspicion that one of the open source applications is looping the processor from time to time?

I think Windows Perfmon is what you are looking for. Usually gives you everything you need in terms of process, general use, etc. Etc. Covers pretty much everything, network, disk, memory and creating nice charts too. You can also export the logging results to CSV so you can create nicer charts in Excel if you want.

Oh I forgot, I'm not sure how to do this anymore, it was a long time ago, but you can add your application to Perfmon as well. I did it in Java, but I'm sure .Net will give you the ability to do the same.

Windows 2003 includes a Performance Monitor tool (perfmon.msc) that can monitor various resources. This is quite a powerful and complex tool, if you google for "window 2003" perfmon counters you can find a lot of information to get started and how to use it effectively.

Run your sites in different application pools, then you can isolate them easily!
