User-selectable workflow.

I am trying to implement a Workflow where the user needs to select the target document library.

I could figure out two possible ways:

  • Once the user manually starts the workflow, we will display a web page where they will select the target document library.

  • we would render the web page first. where the User will select the destination. After clicking the button, the workflow will start from the beginning.

Now for feature "1": How to redirect from worlflow to a webpage. [Tried Server.Transfer but failed.)

for feature "2": How to start a workflow when a button is clicked.

Please also indicate which of the above is the best solution.

You need a workflow initiation form. Exactly how you implement it and how many features you can get will depend on the type of workflow you are working on, but you should be able to customize something in order to choose a destination.

I am assuming you are talking about writing a workflow with Visual Studio. Personally, I will try to create a SharePoint designer workflow first to make sure it suits your needs.

In SharePoint Designer, you can create an initiation form that accepts data from a user when they manually start a workflow. If the actions from the window don't do what you want, you can create your own custom workflow .
