BDC security issues

We plan to use the BDC to read and possibly write to the SQL Server content database on an external server. I have heard that there are many security issues that you may encounter or should be aware of before setting up a BDC.

does anyone come across or know of any security issues with BDC. Thanks.

Part 8 shows how to use the BDC to write data - although this is rarely used in 2007. There are some examples here.
